Mathcad Software - Student Lease Program*

Note
for Student Installs:
Please
install Mathcad while your PC is connected to the Internet.
The installation will prompt you for a product code (which is found on
the sticker attached to the disc's sleeve), and the registration will
issue the activation code. (If not on the Internet, the process
is more cumbersome... it requires that you email the company the
product code and they will email back your activation code.) The
installation has two Microsoft software packages as prerequisites.
If they are not currently on your computer, the script will
prompt you to complete the installation of Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
and Microsoft MSXML 4.0.
If your computer gets hosed due to a
catastrophic hard drive failure, and you are unable to restore a system
image from your backup.... Reinstalling Mathcad may be necessary,
so please contact your ENGR162 Lab Instructor or Teaching Assistant for
assistance in getting a replacement copy of the software since your
original disc is encoded to run-once.
DESCRIPTION
OF THE PROGRAM
The U.Va. School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) has deployed a Mathcad student lease program for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in a SEAS degree program. This results in a cost saving over retail boxed-edition prices, but also comes with some special licensing rules:
The software edition that you purchase is valid for your duration as a SEAS student. It doesn't come with the ownership of a permanent license--- it's a lease in your name. The software is not shareable or resellable, i.e., it does not come with distribution rights.
A great feature is if you wish to upgrade your copy in subsequent years to the latest version that we are using in the U.Va. labs and classrooms, it can be done at nominal cost.

NEW PURCHASES
A CD-ROM installation disc containing the software is available at the University Bookstore, 2nd Floor Textbook Department, in the section marked ENGR162 Introduction to Engineering. A full User's Guide w/Reference Manual (in electronic .pdf format) is contained on the installation CD-ROM. A LABEL WITH THE PRODUCT CODE IS CONTAINED ON THE DISC SLEEVE.
UPGRADES
If you've purchased a previous SEAS special edition (classes of 2007 - 2009) and want to upgrade to the current version, please purchase a copy at the University Bookstore, 2nd Floor Textbook Department, at the ENGR162 section. Note this counts as an upgrade of the software version only, and you still have one valid run-once license (i.e., not two).
